VAN NUYS HIGH SCHOOL MANUFACTURING ACADEMY

 

The Van Nuys High School Manufacturing Academy is a Machine & Forming Technologies pathway sequence of two or more CTE courses within a student’s area of career interest; It is designed to connect high school classes to college, industry, and career and has been in place for the past 14 years. It prepares students for a wide range of high-wage, high-skills, and high-demand careers. The students gain knowledge, technical skills, and soft skills, making them employable regardless of the field of study they pursue.  

For over 15 years, the Van Nuys Manufacturing Academy has been preparing students for college and careers in the manufacturing sector.  It provides hands-on internships, industry networks, student certifications, opportunities for scholarships, and visits to local colleges.

9TH GRADE INTRODUCTORY COURSE - CTE CAD Manufacturing AB (60-58-13/14) a-g (G)

10TH GRADE CONCENTRATOR COURSE - Machining Technology 1 AB (67-85-45/46) a-g (G)

11TH GRADE CONCENTRATOR COURSE - Machinist 1 AB (67-85-51/52)

12TH GRADE CAPSTONE COURSE - Manufacture and Prototyping AB (69-95-91/92) a-g (G)

  • ToolingU - Industry-recognized and industry-validated Technical Certifications from SME cover broad topics in manufacturing and progress from entry-level to advanced, creating guided career paths. Developed with input from experts in manufacturing, Technical Certifications validate knowledge against industry standards. Technical Certifications include the Certified Manufacturing Associate (CMfgA), Certified Manufacturing Technologist (CMfgT), and Certified Manufacturing Engineer (CMfgE). 
    • Additive Manufacturing Certification from Tooling U-SME is an industry-recognized and industry-validated professional certification that provides the knowledge needed to implement this advanced technology, plus a credential signifying that your or your team’s grasp of this area of knowledge meets or exceeds industry standards. Additive Manufacturing Certification is offered at two levels: Certified Additive Manufacturing—Fundamentals (CAM-F) and Certified Additive Manufacturing—Technician (CAM-T)
  • HAAS CERTIFICATION - These online courses are designed to provide the basic knowledge necessary to get started as a CNC machine operator or CNC machinist. They offer an introduction to basic CNC machine operation, proper machine safety, and fundamental machining processes.
