VNHS named a 2022 National Magnet School of Distinction

CONGRATULATIONS
VAN NUYS HIGH SCHOOL MAGNETS

Van Nuys High School has been named a National Magnet School of Distinction by Magnet Schools of America, the national association for magnet and theme-based schools.
MSA Merit Awards are only given to a select group of magnet schools nationwide.
This is the sixth year in a row that VNHS Magnets have been recognized by the MSA as recipients of the highly regarded Merit Awards.

Van Nuys High School Magnet Coordinators, Dawn Brown and Fanny Araña will be recognized and receive a National Magnet School of Distinction Merit Award on behalf of the school during an awards ceremony held at Magnet Schools of America’s 39th National Conference.
Van Nuys High School offers three magnet programs; Medical, Performing Arts, and Math/Science, all of which provide students a comprehensive high school experience along with a wide range of classes and activities. All three magnets have a high percentage of ambitious and dynamic students who require broad opportunities and flexibility in their curricular scheduling. Magnet students are able to create accommodating class schedules that afford diverse, interactive, and comprehensive high school experiences and offer a competitive advantage for career and advanced academic pursuits.

To receive a national merit award, members of Magnet Schools of America must submit a detailed application that is scored by a panel of educators. These schools are judged and scored on their demonstrated ability to raise student academic achievement, promote racial and socioeconomic diversity, provide integrated curricula and instruction, and create strong family and community partnerships that enhance the school’s magnet theme. Congratulations to the entire Van Nuys High School Magnet team on being Merit Award recipients for six years running. There’s always something great happening at Van Nuys High School!
